Dr. Wesley Bair
Dr. Wesley (Wes) Bair was a faculty member at MSU from 1968-2002.
He worked with the football team and taught in the kinesiology department.
Bair had a strong love for Missouri State Football. He especially enjoyed
watching MSU vs. North Dakota State games from the suite. Bair walked to
campus every day. He was a well-known, friendly face to the people he
crossed paths with in the 34 years he worked at Missouri State.
Bair established a scholarship that can be awarded to any student in the
College of Health and Human Services. The Dr. Wesley and Phyllis Bair
Health and Human Services Scholarship benefits the college that both he and
his wife supported.
"We appreciate Dr. Wesley Bair's generosity in providing scholarships for
students in the College of Health and Human Services, or CHHS," said Dr.
Helen Reid, dean of CHHS. "Dr. Bair valued all of the disciplines within
the college and directed the scholarships to be equally divided among the
departments."
She said he recognized the challenges faced by first-generation students,
so he included this preference in the selection criteria for scholarship
recipients.
"Dr. Bair is remembered for encouraging all students to overcome obstacles
and find their individual pathways to success," Reid said. "The Dr. Wesley
and Phyllis Bair scholarships will create a lasting legacy by enabling CHHS
students to complete their studies and contribute to the health and
well-being of their communities."
